MELASMA

Pigmentation refers to certain skin conditions which cause the skin to appear darker then normal. This in turn makes one’s face appear rather unhealthy, uneven and older. Pigmentation can manifest in many forms such as age spots, melasma, freckles and post inflammatory pigmentation. The main cause of skin pigmentation disorders is the overproduction of a pigment called Melanin in the body. Melanin, produced by melanocytes, is the pigment responsible for the color of our hair, skin, and eyes. It protects the body by absorbing ultraviolet light from the sun. As Indian skin we tend to pigment very easily due to our location between the tropics.
